    Your painting is really inspiring - I'm just getting back into the hobby after some 15 years and the ideas you show in your painting really make me want to go and try some new things.

    One question - that knight in the middle of the second block, with the red checks and the green dragon on his crest - is this sourced from a medieval 'wappenbuch' or did you invent it?

    Congrats you got back into painting! And for the red Knight with Dragon: yes, the pattern is home-made, I usually use this method for damascened textures. It's based on the optical effect of a criss-crossy thing, just pay attention to the contrast of for- and background.
